To me, today was the perfect day for a baseball game. Now, that the season of summer is finally here, we have no excuses to be outside (unless that excuse is, it’s too humid). Earlier, I posted about Memorial Day and how we need to recognize the brave men and women who fight for our freedom. On days like this, where we do recognize the courage of others we should take a step back and really think about how great we have it off. Appreciation goes along way. Today, I was at the baseball game, and on several accounts Veterans and our service men and women were recognized and it was breathtaking. Whether it was at a baseball game, an airport or in the grocery store I hope you had the opportunity to show your gratitude towards our freedom and service members.
take a moment to celebrate
How many of you know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day? Well, as today is Memorial Day, let me give you the 411 on today’s much needed holiday. Memorial Day is a recognized federal holiday in the United States for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.
If you see a person who is dressed in their service attire, remember to thank them today after all without them, this wouldn’t be land of the free and home of the brave.
