The Beatles

48 years ago, was a huge day for a The Beatles. Today in 1965 the Beatles released “Yesterday”.  Also on September 13, 1965 was also when the Beatles won their 1st Grammy for Best Group of 1964.

With the best-known lineup, consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and (my beloved) Ringo Starr, became considered by many as the greatest and most influential act of the rock era. Yeah if you think you read that wrong, you didn’t, the greatest AND most influential act of the rock era!  The Beatles were and are so popular because of the chances they took. They used several genres, ranging from pop ballads to psychedelic rock while often incorporating classical elements in new and innovative ways, to get their style. In the early 60s, emerged the first wind of: Beatlemania.

The ’65 song “Yesterday” makes prominent use of a string quartet; while it was not the first pop record to employ strings, it marked the group’s first recorded use of classical music elements. Gould observes, “The more traditional sound of strings allowed for a fresh appreciation of their talent as composers by listeners who were otherwise allergic to the din of drums and electric guitars.”

It just goes to show, if you put your mind to anything, you can do it. The Beatles are rock n roll– and the made history…really they wrote it. And to this day we are still listening to them and paying our homage and tribute.

So, pay a tribute to the Beatles and crank up their jams today to get your through work. Listen to a few of their songs, especially “Yesterday”.
