Well, welcome to the rest of your life. I don’t know what to say other than this is incredible.  Amazon has really out done themselves this time. When you use the hashtag #AmazonCart, you now can shop right from Twitter. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, huh?  Mind you, first you must connect your Amazon and Twitter accounts. You will then receive a a tweet back from @MyAmazon and an email confirming you’ve added something to your cart – but this is another step toward an awesome shopping experience.

I bleed red and white, green and gold, and blue and gold. I will never be able to shake those long “O’s.” Despite the season, the Badgers, Brewers and Packers are always on my radar. I can never get enough cheese, and PBR is my kind of beer. I can pronounce any place you point to on the map, and I will argue that we have more lakes than Minnesotawisconsin pride.

Folks, Wisconsin is my home and it always will be. For the past three years, I have lived in DC and I still get butterflies when I land in the motherland. I still get excited when I see a fellow Wisconsinite walking around DC repping my state. Wisconsin has state pride like I’ve never seen or experienced before. I know Texas would argue they have the most state pride, but I respectfully disagree. Wisconsin has camaraderie.

I’m sure it’s evident that I have undying state pride and love for Wisconsin, and frankly, that’s a burning passion that I will always have.

Over the weekend, I got in a heated argument with a friends’ friend I met. As we were making introductions and creating small talk, (let’s call him) Bill asked me where I was from and I proudly exclaimed, “WISCONSIN!” I countered and asked him where he was from. After much hesitation he answered, “New York…City.” With his response, this was something I was not pleased with or something that I was going to let stand by the wayside, I again asked again, “No, where are you really from?” Bill again hesitated and finally responded, “Chicago.” The conversation goes like this for a while and I finally get Bill to tell me where he is from after I told him I was very familiar with the “Chicago-area.”

I will give you the same talk that I dished out to Bill on Saturday night. Be proud of where you are from. Take pride in your upbringing and where you came from. Where you are from has a lot to do with who you are now. And truth be told, being a coward about your roots is almost an insult to your parents and how they raised you.

When you think of Wisconsin, what comes to mind? Probably the Green Bay Packers and cheese, and with good reason. The Packers are a storied NFL franchise, but as the foam cheese hats the Packers fans wear indicate, the real pride of Wisconsin are the people, the sports, the seasons, the beer, the cheese and the list will only continue.

Until the day I die, I bleed Wisconsin through and through. If it wasn’t for my Wisconsin and Midwestern upbringing, a lot would be different and I sincerely take pride in being from the great state of Wisconsin and being a true Midwestern.

After a busy day, I took a break to take the “What State Do You Belong In?” test on Buzzfeed. With no surprise, I got Wisconsin! Check out the test. I am interested to see what your results are and if they are as accurate as my results. state

a heartwarming surprise

the super bowl

I was really intrigued after I saw that my sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, made it on to TSM (Total Sorority Move). After opening the article, I realized it was a truly amazing heartwarming story about the sister of DPhiE (UMich). They surprised their house mom with tickets to the Super Bowl!

These are the things that I miss the most about my undergrad. To me, DPhiE was (and still is) my home away from home. TSM puts it the best: If your sorority house is your home away from home, then your sorority house mom is your momma away from momma. We’re at the age where we start to realize just how nurturing, selfless, and loving (albeit crazy) our mothers are. We’ve also started to realize how we’ve even taken them for granted. Every one in 50 or so times, most of us will try and give back.

When we give back…we really give back. Watch this clip, it will explain the immense gratitude and appreciation I have towards my fellow sisters.

Here it is, my friends, I am on the road again. Today, I will hit three awesome cities before 10 AM: the District, to Baltimore to my final destination: Charlotte, North Carolina. I am itching to get back to North Carolina. It’s a place where people are polite, drinking sweet tea is a religion and I can pop my collar without being self-conscious. If you’ve never had the chance to make it to a Carolina, I highly suggest it. il_570xN.420990807_p3oy

2013 was filled with many memories, some excellent and others not so great. 2013 did go above in beyond in many life categories.MK HYR2013 Here’s a little tribute to 2013 and just a few of the good things that came from a magical year.

A few things that didn’t make the list, that are worth noting:

  • Celebrating my one year at AREVA
  • Attending two Inaugural balls: North and South Carolina
  • Attending Inauguration on the Mall, what’s up Yellow section!
  • Trying homemade (the real deal) moonshine
  • Attending the event of the season: Taste of the South
  • Chatting with Santa at the Daughters of the American Revolution’s Open House
  • Enjoyed a traditional tailgate at Miller Park before a Brewers game
  • Toured the Neuschwanstein castle in Schwangau, Germany
  • Devoured a true Austrian Apfel Strudel
  • Jammed out with Hoodie Allen and Dave Matthews

With 2013 being so awesome, I can only imagine what 2014 has in store for me.

new girl

this show gets me every time!

This show is simply amazing. There are no more words for it than that. Have you ever watched New Girl? What, no? You haven’t? OH MY GOSH– you need to get on it. Here is a little clip of the show. Please enjoy.

Alright, now that you are laughing and in a good mood. I know you want to hear more about this show. Heck, you probably don’t even want to know more and you just want to watch this show. Word of advice, my friends, it’s on Netflix! Basically the jest of the show: After a bad break-up, Jess, an offbeat young woman, moves into an apartment loft with three single men. Although they find her behavior very unusual, the men support her – most of the time.

This show will have you in stitches. It’s lovely. It’s the perfect amount of anger and hilarity, which makes it real-life-like. Also I just learned that Zooey Deschanel produces this show, so that just upped the awesomeness factor.

One day I saw my boyfriend, Matt, tweeting about New Girl. I was so shocked that 1. he knew what the show was and 2. that he watched it and 3. that he liked it! (honestly what’s there not to like?) We love this show. He even wrote a little blog about it. Take a read at this. If these two things don’t convince you, then I have no idea what will.

New Girl = No Productivity

I’ve been staring at a blank WordPress page for the last two hours. I’ve also had to wake my computer up numerous times for the last two hours. You may ask why I’ve lost all my creative juices this evening? Four words. New Girl Season 2.

This might be my favorite TV show of all-time, which is saying a lot because I have a variety of favorite shows that I keep track of all the time. But even as I’m writing this, I find myself distracted by the hilariousness that is New Girl. This show is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Nick Miller, played by Jake M. Johnson, who is also a Cubs fan, is my favorite character on the show. He’s a bartender with a very low credit score and he can’t talk to girls or express his feelings whatsoever. I’m bad at describing it because I’m currently watching the show.

I give up at trying to finish a coherent post because of how great this show is. This is a horrible post with a lack of creativity and for that, I apologize.
